Climate Resiliency Research Program
As climate change poses significant challenges globally, its effects on the grassroots economy, particularly for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), are profound. MSMEs, especially those in agriculture and food production, face direct and indirect impacts such as decreased productivity, increased production costs, and threats to food security. For instance, changing rainfall patterns disrupt planting and harvesting cycles, while rising temperatures degrade crop yields in both quality and quantity (Ministry of Finance, 2024).
The Climate Resilience Research Program 2025 is designed to connect climate resilience with the broader stability of the grassroots economy. This initiative focuses on:
- Risk Identification:
Pinpointing climate-related risk factors that affect MSMEs and their operations. - Impact Mapping:
Assessing the severity of climate risks and their impact on MSME resilience. - Resilience Factors and Mitigation:
Identifying the support and strategies needed to mitigate climate-related risks effectively.
By understanding how climate change affects MSMEs and identifying their responses, this research aims to develop actionable strategies to strengthen the resilience of women-led MSMEs. This aligns with Amartha’s commitment to climate risk management, ensuring the long-term stability and success of grassroots entrepreneurs while fostering sustainable economic growth.
